Savitha’s dream comes true!!

Savita,24 years of age, is from Hassan. As a young girl she always wanted to  further her education. Her father being a farmer and mother a housewife, it  was difficult for them to bring up their 4 children. Savitha’s elder  sisters’ were married off after studying till 10th std and 7th std  respectively. Her brother became an electrician to meet the household needs  and  managed to finish his 10th. Knowing her interest in studies, Savitha’s  father and brother with their monthly income of Rs.5000 somehow managed to  help her complete her B.A. in Kannada medium. Seeing the financial condition  and her family’s struggles, Savita had given up on her dreams and stayed at  home doing  household chores, but destiny had other plans for her.

Savitha’s brother’s friend told them about Unnati and she came in with lots  of hope,  ready to work hard. One of the teachers’ remembers, when Savita  came first to Unnati she was very shy, scared to interact with people, not  confident,  could speak only kannada, and used to become emotional easily  and cry for everything, nevertheless she went through the course in the  25thbatch with grit and determination. Her chosen vocation was Retail  Sales.  Hardwork paid off and with the help of her teachers’ this shy& simple girl  was transformed into a smart & confident girl. She says she learnt honesty,  confidence, time management and money management from the Lifeskill classes.  She can understand english quite a bit and also speaks in english.  Savitha  is happy that she learnt about computers and  realises  that keeping in  touch with people is so simple with the internet. She had always dreamt of being employed which has come true.

The next time you go to Garuda Mall, please meet this proud Unnatian,  working as a sales executive in Shoppers Stop , earning Rs.7000 + incentives  When we ask her what next?  Savita says that  she wants to continue her  studies and become a teacher. She has also referred 2 students to Unnati.  Savitha says “Unnati is my God”,I want to save money and help Unnati. We are  touched by her feelings. We at Unnati wish this child of ours a great future  ahead and may all her dreams come true.
